The representative of Viet Nam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) joined the two-day t in Bangkok
Thailand 11 – 12 October 2023 – The representative of Viet Nam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (#MONRE) joined the two-day #Global_Plastics_Summi#Global_Plastic_Action_Partnership (#GPAP) to discuss issues and challenges, and uncover solutions toward a #Global_Treaty (GT) on ending plastic pollution.
On Day 2 with the thematic topic “Harmonizing standards and collaborating for success”, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan – Director General of the International Cooperation Department of #MONREViet Nam’s – presented the case study of Viet Nam as an approach for the “implementation: translating a robust, legally binding treaty into viable national action plans”. He emphasized that the ambitious and comprehensive global treaty could be viably translated into the national action plan of Viet Nam through 6 enablers: i/strengthening the national legally binding frameworks, ii/ensuring compliance for national commitments, iii/robustifying M&E, report and data sharing, iv/updating lesson learned and knowledge, v/facilitating technical and financial assistance, and vi/harmonizing measurements and metrics. With the support of the #NPAP platform, #Viet_Nam is expected to catalyze and mobilize resources for effectively implementing this global plastics treaty.
