IKEA produces 100% of blue shopping bags (worldwide) in Vietnam. Bags are produced from recycled PP materials. Currently not sourcing PP locally, but imports from markets outside of Vietnam, including Europe. In general, Vietnam has the volume of PP waste to produce the required PP granulate for the production, but recovery, production quality and pricing are still general challenges to overcome. IDH and IKEA will work with Recycled Plastic Sub-association to help plastic recycling factories to improve production quallity that meet buyers requirements and sort out labour and social issues and connect them with Recycled PP granulate buyers (e.g. funiture – IKEA, packaging (PRO Vietnam) companies) in Vietnam
